Starting directly from the centre of Kirchberg, head towards the Spertendorf district, then continue along the asphalt road to the Sonnberg. From here, you´ll enjoy a fantastic view of the Spertental valley, with the Großer Rettenstein as the crowning glory and the Hohe Tauern mountain range in the background, showcasing Austria´s highest peaks. This iconic view has often been featured in  TV series like "Soko Kitzbühel" and "Bergdoktor".

From the former Filzerhof farm, the tarmac path turns into a gravel road, leading you through sections of woodland. At the summit, the path leads you westwards just below the summit. A short detour to the Kaiserblick viewpoint is worthwhile! Via the Obingalm, where you can enjoy the beautiful view with a drink from the trough, you reach the starting point of the SunTrail. The sun is already in the name here and it shines gently and warmly through the trees, especially in autumn.

The start of the SunTrail is at around 1,340 metres above sea level on the Gsengweg. In the upper section, the trail swings through a forest, which thins out towards the centre and then turns into alpine pastures. On the flowy, springy trail, you quickly find a good rhythm between waves and bends. After crossing the Raggingbach stream, the trail then descends again on waves, tables and berms along the stream. The trail ends near the power station to the east of Brixen.
