Roner Hut Tour
Challenging mountain bike tour in South Tyrol
Starting from the Hotel Jonathan, head towards the centre of Natz. From here, take a right turn down into the Rienzschlucht gorge. The last 30 metres leading to the bridge are technically challenging. It is advisable to push the bike along the narrow hiking trail, which is secured with wooden railings. After crossing the Rienz, there is another pushing section, before the route continues uphill to the Niederst Hof in a rideable, but steep, manner. The Kreuzstöckl trail takes you to Gifen, the starting point for the ascent to the Rodenecker Alm. After a well earned refreshment stop at the Roner Hütte, the varied descent to Vill continues to the Rundlbrücke bridge, where you cross the Rienz once again. The final challenge is a climb of almost 200 metres back to the Hotel Jonathan to complete the loop.
Toni recommends:
A stop at the Ronerhütte is a must, the biker pan at Alex and Miriam's biker pan is a treat and the view of the Dolomites from the terrace of the hut is perfect for your screensaver.
The tour should be organised so that the ascent to the Rondenecker Alm does not fall at lunchtime. It pays to start a little earlier.
