Proga 5 in Rogla in Slovenia

Experienced and technically skilled bikers take note: the Proga 5 in the Rogla mountain bike region is a Slovenian delicacy in a class of its own. The challenging and varied single trail is one of a total of 6 forest trails in the Rogla Bike Park - short but crisp is the best way to describe it.

Proga 5

With the Proga 5, the mountain bike region of Rogla in Alpine Slovenia has a difficult and varied trail on its must-bike list. Jumps, drops and roots await on this exciting trail - don't be fooled by the flat start of the trail. Because the Proga 5 single trail challenges experienced bikers to a wild ride!

Full of adrenaline at Proga 5

Anyone discovering the forests at the foot of Pohorje, in the heart of Alpine Slovenia, for the first time is well advised to start in the Rogla region. In the middle of the dense Pohorje forest, there are a variety of forest trails of all levels of difficulty from Mašinžaga to Ostruščica. And in addition to a primeval forest tour & cultural tour, a ride on Proga 5 in the Rogla Bike Park should definitely be on your bucket list!

Proga 5 is one of a total of 6 forest trails in the Rogla Bike Park in the middle of the Pohorje forest between Mašinžaga and Ostruščica. On the left-hand side of the chairlift, you can enjoy the biking fun:

  • 1.3 km trail length
  • 129 metres in depth
  • Quite flat at the start, but quickly becomes more flowy as it progresses
  • natural root sections
  • flowing bends and waves

Flow meets forest

From the lift station, Proga 5 first leads relatively flat across the meadow on the slope before we then plunge directly into the dense forest on the single trail. We repeatedly cross the slope, which is a busy ski piste in winter, until we disappear back into the earthy and rocky trail in the forest. Small jumps, steps and wooden elements add variety to the Proga 5 descent, which now leads us steadily curve by curve towards the valley. Due to the incline, things can get quite fast here.

Endless dark green in Rogla

If you haven't had enough of the Proga 5, you can also quickly switch to the Proga 6/7 on the route. Both alternatives are also marked in black and offer even more flow, double jumps and challenging roots. The high speed on the steep slope should not be underestimated. The Rogla bike park therefore offers a surprising number of possible combinations to make your trail day a varied one.

What else there is to know about the trail

Fancy a few side facts about the trail? We reveal insider tips, the best photo spots and everything else there is to know about the trail.

Worth knowing

Since 2024, there have also been two trails in Rogla Bike Park that are specifically aimed at families.

Insider tip

The Seiz Carthusian Monastery (Kartuzijanski samostan Žiče) should be on every history buff's bucket list. The castle-like monument hosts weddings and sometimes concerts at the weekend.

Photo point

The old town of Slovenske Konjice is manageable, but its old pastel-coloured houses are charming and nice to look at. A welcome change from photos on summits!
