It all began back in the days of the Kaiser in 1896, and today, after many historical ups and downs, the Walliserhof is up and down the trails of the Brandner Valley and the bike park. Raimund and Michaela Meyer are the third generation to run the hotel and spend every spare minute on their bikes (and horses). Host and bike guide Raimund made his first MTB attempts as a teenage firebrand on the valley's first Mistral - today, as a passionate enduro rider, he prefers to take his guests uphill or cross-country. But the e-MTB is also in the stable. "What's really cool: riding the eBike up to the Parpfienz Trail at 1,800 metres. It's bike season here from spring until the first snowfall. And even though the Bikepark Brandnertal is usually the first park to open its gates and trails at the beginning of May, biking here is by no means limited to the park opening times. After all, we are well located in the sun and not too high up." So if you want to discover some cool secret trails in Brandnertal and Montafon, Raimund and his bike guides are the perfect people to talk to.

"A hot potato in the park"
The bike guide training in Vorarlberg was also put on strong legs - and wide tyres - by the Walliserhof. "After all, we wanted to create a proper bike region!" With 30 kilometres of Vorarlberg trail fun practically on the doorstep of the Walliserhof, they have succeeded in doing just that. Boss Michaela also rides "a hot iron in the park". As a show jumper, she has the necessary courage for downhill and the many flow trails of the bike park. The mountain lifts, which take all bikes, take you up to the mountain huts. And sustainable bike, bus & train is also a good combination to extend your radius on an MTB holiday in Brandnertal.

Vorarlberg bike history
"I'm an old fox on the bike," laughs Raimund, "mountain biking has been a passion of mine for a really long time," he tells us from the sewing box. And there's a lot of Vorarlberg biking history in there: After all, Raimund is a bike pioneer of the Brandner Valley. Back in 2011, he and a few companions developed the first concepts for the Brandnertal Bike Park - it was finally opened in 2014. To this day, the bike park is the shining beacon project of the Brandnertal MTB region - and an unbroken magnet for enduro enthusiasts, flow fans and youngsters.

"It's damn cool how many teenagers are discovering the sport and our region today - the Walliserhof is also simply perfect for the whole active family: good food & casual, burger & veggie, design & architecture, mountain biking & cruising, family spa & adults spa. "When you come back sweaty from a tour - via a trail that branches off from the Joy Ride and leads to the hotel - drink a cold soda lemon on the terrace and celebrate the attitude to life, you simply fit right in here. Definitely uncomplicated! Simply because we really enjoy working with people who are in the mountains and share our passion." Vorarlberg cookery is held in high regard - instead of salmon from Alaska, trout and char from the Brandnertal are served. As well as vegetarian & vegan variations. "50% of our dishes at the Walliserhof are vegetarian - and are the number one choice on our menu. Because there are great things from the region!"
