SAUKASER - PENGELSTEIN
A somewhat more challenging mountain bike tour leads from Jochberg up the Pengelstein. This tour requires a slightly higher level of fitness, as the 1,166 metres of altitude gain are steeper in certain cections. Starting at the tourist office in Brixen im Thale, the Brixental Valley cycle path takes us comfortably to Kitzbühel. From Kitzbühel, the Leukental cycle path continues on flat terrain to Aurach and Jochberg. Here, the gravel path into the Saukaserbachgraben begins. Initially shady and only gently ascending, the path later winds uphill in the sun, alternating between steeper and more moderate gradients. Passing the Kasereggalm, we catch a glimpse of the 3S-Bahn cable car. However, before reaching it, a few more bends take us up to 1,927 metres above sea level. From the Pengelstein restaurant, a very bumpy descent begins but gradually becomes smoother. Passing the Usterkaralm and the Hiesleggalm, the path aventually transitions to tarmac. The tour concludes as we reach Kirchberg via the Aschau cycle path.
