RAUHER HEAD
The starting point of our beautiful tour is in front of the hotel. After the roundabout and passing under the railway subway, we head towards Spertendorf. On the well-signposted MTB route 201 Rauher Kopf, the route continues gently uphill for 4 km along the Sonnbergweg to the Filzerhof inn. Here, the tarmac road ends and joins a good forest path. The path becomes quite steep for a short stretch where you´ll see a hunter's stand in a meadow. The final two kilometres steadily ascend through a shady forest, eventually bringing you to the highest point (1,410 m) of the tour. After a brief downhill, you can takea detour to the Kaiserblick viewpoint, offering a stunning view of the Wilder Kaiser. A well-maintained forest path then leads you downhill to Gasthof Ruetzen, where you will be welcomed by Sonja, the "fesche Wirtin". After a short break, an 11-kilometre-long smooth tarmac path over the Hintersonnberg takes you to Spertendorf. Once in the valley, we return to the starting point via the main road to Kirchberg.
