RAUHER HEAD
A mountain bike tour up Kirchberg's local mountain, the Rauhen Kopf. Starting at the hotel, we head towards the village centre, passing Gasthof Kalswirt and following the vineyard path along the stream. This picturesque trail is lined with charming, historic farms. After the meadow path, we reach Sonnbergstraße, which leads us to the Filzerhof inn. Refreshed by a light snack, we take a forest path through the woods towards Rauher Kopf. The final stetch to the summit, over roots and small raised bogs, is a real challenge. However, the effort is rewardes with a stunning panoramic view in all directions - truly unique from the Rauher Kopf! The descent takes us from the summit via the Auer-Hochalm to the Hinterer Sonnberg. On the way down, the rustic Gasthof Ruetzen offers an ideal spot to pause for refreshments. Following the road, we reach Spertendorf and route 9a, which guides us through forest and meadow paths to the hamlet of Bockern. With a bit of luck, you might even spot a capercaillie making its rounds on the Rauher Kopf area.
