NATURAL PHENOMENON ICE HOLES
Tour to an impressive natural spectacle. Icicles and sub-zero temperatures well into June. Passing Lake Kaltern through the Lavason Valley, we arrive in Appiano. Here through the village, past the weekly market (Tuesday), we ride up to the Gleifkirche, where we enjoy a first beautiful view over the Überetsch. Now comes the impressive detour to the ice holes. A small hollow of 1,000m² at 550 m above sea level. The microclimate here is normally found at 1,500 m above sea level. Larches, alpine roses, ferns. And to top it all off, we see icicles. But we have to keep going. A long climb over forest paths takes us up to 900 m. Now the single trails begin, which take us above Kaltern to Altenburg. Another great view of Lake Kaltern before we speed downhill to Tramin.
