FROM SCHÖNRUH AROUND THE THANELLER
A moderately difficult tour on well-maintained paths. The "Thaneller" Mountain with its steep rock faces, lush alpine slopes and high meadows is circumnavigated. After Rieden, the route take you through the wild and romantic "Rotlechtal" valley, home to its reservoir. The tour also passes the ruins of the "Ehrenberger Klause", dating back to the 13th century (the entire complex has been beautifully renovated, and a captiviation exhibition from the Middle Ages is hosted below the ruins). For those seeking more altitude, two variants offer fantastic trails with short push sections for cracks: one via the "Raaz Alpe" and the "Ehenbichler Alm" or up to the "Ehrenberger Klause". Refreshment stops: The terrace at the Rotlechhof offers stunning views. In Rieden, enjoy excellent local specialities at the Tyrolean inn "Gasthof Kreuz" (please check opening times). At the Ehrenberg Alm, Grandma serves an exceptional Kaiserschmarren - definitely worth the extra climb.
