BOHINJSKA BISTRICA - SAVICA WATERFALL
To warm up, we ride to the Bled jezero train station (approx. 5 km), from where we take the train to Bohinjska Bistrica, where today's tour begins and ends.
After the first 4 km of easy cycling through the Bohinj valley, we turn left at the village of Žlan onto a technically demanding and steep footpath, which after 4 km takes us to a slope above the Bohinj valley, where there is a magnificent view of the Julian Alps with Triglav (there is also an easier variant: from Bohinjska Bistrica on the asphalt road to the village of Ravne to Bohinjem and then continue straight ahead on a gravel road). For the next 4 km we cross the slope on a footpath, then descend to Hotel Belvi above Lake Bohinj. We continue along the so-called "hunter's trail", which is technically moderately difficult and leads us to Ukanc, where we reach the Koča pri Savici Alpine Club hut after an easier ascent. Here we can leave the bikes (lock them) and walk to the mythical Savica waterfall (about 30 minutes on foot). This is followed by a descent on a footpath to Lake Bohinj (opportunity for a swim with a magnificent panorama). We ride along the lake to the village of Stara Fužina (gastronomic tip: Mihovc restaurant) and from there steeply uphill to the Rudnica mountain, then steeply downhill again to the cycle path that leads us to the Bohinjska Bistrica train station (less technically experienced cyclists can continue from Stara Fužina directly on the cycle path), where our tour ends.
