BIKE TRAIL TIROL STAGE EHRWALD - SCHARNITZ
This stage covers 40 km and 1,000 metres of elevation gain, mostly on well-maintained tracks or asphalted side roads. Initially, you cycle slightly uphill to the valley station of the Ehrwalder Almbahn cable car. From here, continue uphill on route no. 813 to the Ehrwalder Alm (refreshment stop). Alternatively, you can take the gondola lift.
From the Ehrwalder Alm, continue uphill along the main trail. After two hairpin bends, you will reach the highest point at 1,600 metres above sea level. Shortly afterwards, keep left towards Leutasch (551) at the prominent junction to Seeben Alm. A detour to the Tillfuss Alm or Gaistal Alm offers an impressive view of the steep north faces of the Mieminger Kette. Continue cycling along the main path through the Gaistal valley, passing the toll station and head towards the Leutasch district of Plaik. Cross the bridge here and cycle to Obern, orienting yourself by the "Hotel Bergland". Now take the next road towards Leutasch/Oberweidach.
The path soon leads into the forest, where you cross a road and then turn left onto a forest path. From here, always follow the signs "539 Mooserweg Seepromenade" or "Leutasch Weidach". After passing the Weidachse, you will reach the main road. Follow this road for about 350 metres and then turn right again. This is followed by a 200 metre ascent in the forest and a descent through the Fludertal valley to the road. Ride northwards for a short distance before turning off onto the road to Scharnitz. Just before the main road, turn left into the meadows near Giessenbach and cycle the final few kilometres to the stage finish in Scharnitz (1.5 hours from Leutasch Weidach).
