Schöneben Flowtrail in Nauders - Reschenpass

For many enduro riders, it is THE favourite trail among the 30 single trails in the Nauders - Reschenpass MTB region. Because of its playful flow and its particularly nature-friendly family-friendliness. The Schöneben flow trail in the green difficulty level (very easy) puts a big grin on the faces of young and experienced bikers alike. You can go up by cable car and down as often as you like!

Schöneben Flowtrail

Trails are - in this country - green per se. However, the Schöneben Flowtrail in Nauders - Reschenpass is green in three senses, as the trail was not only created in harmony with nature, but is also categorised as a green and therefore very easy MTB single trail. In addition, the Signature Trail sends both rookies and pros flowing and fast across forests and meadows. The perfect addition to the family bike offer and the trail portfolio of the 3-Länder Enduro Trails.

Where the next generation can gain experience

The green single trail could be described as effortless and playful. But also fast and exciting. Carefully laid out around the many stone pine trees, it offers the opportunity to switch between green and red several times - between the Schöneben Flow Trail and the Upper Schöneben Trail (red difficulty level). This always opens up new combination possibilities and step by step a careful approach to greater challenges.

In this way, the youngsters can gain their first experience on safe terrain, while the older ones have fun too. A narrow track leads through the forest - simply pump the waves and enjoy the unique flow.

The Signature Trail Schöneben Flowtrail is ...

  • a single trail experience for the whole family in the Nauders - Reschenpass region
  • a flowing MTB single trail through a visually appealing Swiss stone pine forest
  • thanks to its open structure, the perfect route to keep an eye on the kids
  • an unforgettable first trail ride for kids & parents
  • the perfect start to a day on the 3-country enduro trails, even for experienced bikers

In the blink of an eye, the first ride catapults me back to my very first memories of Nauders and the Reschen Pass: that groundbreaking phone call from a friend, the first discovery of a new biking region. I was thrilled - we all were! We rode the fresh lines in the forest with childlike joy. We enjoyed this completely different view of the region, which hadn't really appealed to me before - it had always been more of a transit route for me.

Discover the region via the trails

The trails and, above all, the clever connection of these trails was exactly what I had always missed in the development of many Austrian bike regions. It wasn't so much about completing as many repeat rides as possible below a lift in order to utilise it to the full. No, it was and is about discovering the region. About being on the move and experiencing it. Basically, classic touring with a focus on trails - and the odd lift as a climbing aid. It was precisely this concept that I learnt on my first crossing of the Alps at the age of fourteen. The feeling that something new and exciting could be waiting for me around every bend. And so it is here. Suddenly the Grünsee lake appears out of nowhere, high alpine pine forests alternate with cultivated areas. Here a hut, there the anti-tank barriers.

An overall experience

The region is diverse and the tours and trails have the task of showcasing this diversity as intensively and excitingly as possible. But what exactly does this have to do with the Schöneben Flowtrail? Quite a lot! It's about possibilities and focussing on what children want. Because time and time again I notice that our older child is enthusiastic about touring. He likes being out and about and exploring. It broadens his view - and above all mine. It's no longer about fast bends and big jumps, but about an overall experience. In addition to these tours, he also likes to take it easy from time to time and ride a route repeatedly. And to do so in the comfort of a mountain railway, allowing him to use his strength more effectively. Nothing is lost when pedalling, the view from the cable car and the cable car itself inspire him. The technical achievement is a blessing and an inspiring learning object. And then, a few minutes later, he is once again amazed by

  • the sparse pine forests,
  • the swirling kitesurfers far down by the lake or the
  • the fragrant Kaiserschmarrn at the hut.

Passing on enthusiasm

That's another reason why I love this region so much. It has fascinated and captivated me from the very beginning. It is precisely this enthusiasm that I can now pass on here. I don't have to concentrate exclusively on the type of biking that suits me, but can focus on the needs of the children on an active mountain bike holiday in Nauders - Reschenpass. We can ride here as a family

  • ride downhill again and again or just be out and about
  • Ride the pump track and simply have fun
  • look into the distance or work on different skills
  • immerse ourselves in the eventful history of the region or
  • watch other athletes at work.

As far as the Inn Valley or Engadin

It simply never gets boring here. The potential seems almost limitless to me. Basically, the region is growing with us. Because crossing borders is certainly the next step for us as a MTB family. And so I am already making new holiday plans: when my son is older and the tours can be even longer, then we will have the opportunity to discover even more from the Reschen Pass: a descent down into the Inn Valley to the old customs station Altfinstermünz, a short detour into the Engadine in Graubünden. Nobody has to take a back seat on these tours. The kids continue to develop and I also change my perspective. I see them - and the biking region - grow and am happy to watch how this landscape shapes us as a family and our shared passion for mountain biking.

What else there is to know about the trail

Fancy a few side facts about the trail? We reveal insider tips, the best photo spots and everything else there is to know about the trail.

Worth knowing

The tower in Lake Resia is the landmark of the Venosta Valley and looks very picturesque despite its rather less idyllic history. After the Second World War, Lakes Reschen and Grauner were dammed against the will of the inhabitants of the Upper Venosta Valley, so that many inhabitants lost their livelihoods and since then only the tower of the 14th century church can be seen.

Insider tip

The new Schönebenhütte is located directly at the mountain station of the Schönebenbahn cable car. Before setting off on the trails, you can enjoy culinary delights with South Tyrolean products on the large sun terrace or in the modern restaurant.
