Don't let the name fool you! The AlteSchmiede-Trail is the new signature trail in the Bike Park Leogang - the youngster, the novice, the baby, the rookie among the signature trails in Austria's largest bike region Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. Standing still is a foreign word here - after all, the region's reputation as an XXL biking area is something to be defended. Nevertheless, the trail planners have remained true to their love of nature and nature conservation as usual and have laid out the hand-built new addition to the landscape with great sensitivity and attention to detail along old paths and through the shady forest. In between, you can always catch a glimpse of the imposing massif of the Leoganger Steinberge - if you can take your eyes off the narrow path of longing for a moment.

The Asitzbahn cable car takes you directly from Leogang to the mountain station at 1,760 metres. If you prefer a more sporty option, pedal up the forest path to the start. Enjoy the panoramic view at the top and then you're off: the trail begins just behind the Alte Schmiede mountain restaurant under a wooden arch (branching off from the Asitz Trail in the direction of Saalbach Hinterglemm after approx. 50 metres). The extraordinary, rustic-chic alpine hut has cult status and is therefore the perfect and promising namesake for the trail addition. Because enjoyment at the summit is available here both on the plates of the alpine hut and on the trail of the same name.

The five sections - including The Copper Ride, The Mercury Ride, The Nickl Ride and The Silver Ride - wind their way through the shady forest over a distance of 3.35 kilometres. Flowing turns, Northshores and steep berms alternate with easy technical and flowing sections. Shadow play and small and large gaps provide additional fun - but can also be easily bypassed depending on your mood and ability. So just let it roll or take all the smaller and larger jumps and tables left and right and savour them! Flowy fun is guaranteed for everyone, from beginners to pros.

Tip for advanced bikers who want more and want to extend their trail enjoyment: At the end of the AlteSchmiede trail, follow the forest road towards the start of the lower section of the Matzalm trail. But beware: this nature trail is extremely difficult and demands a lot of technique even from experienced bikers. Alternatively, you can combine the Flying Gangster in Bikepark Leogang (full-face helmet compulsory!) with the Schwarzleo / Knappen / Forsthof Trail to get back to the valley. The Mercury Ride section can also be reached via the difficult 3.3 km long Pro Jump Line Hot Shots and the forest trail. AlterSchwede - what a ride!
