The almost kitschy location on the northern shore of Lake Garda in the surfer's paradise of Torbole offers on-road and off-road bikers the perfect starting point for numerous routes and tours. Nestled amongst palm trees, vines and centuries-old olive trees, the active hotel is away from the noise and traffic - but just a few steps from the lively town centre and the azure waters of Lake Garda. Active holidaymakers can start the day with a 25-metre swim in the extra-large sports pool or in the spacious fitness room with modern Technogym equipment. In the evening, Silvio invites you to wine and olive oil tastings in his wine cellar at "after-bike time". And what would a holiday in Italy be without the wonderful Mediterranean-Alpine cuisine! Specialities from Trentino and Veneto are combined here with the hearty home cooking of Lombardy. There are countless reasons for a biking holiday on Lake Garda - according to biking legend and friend of the hotel Uli Stanciu, as many as 164 - and the SantaLucia is definitely one of them.

I started "cycling" in the 70s. At that time it was a racing bike, a "Bianchi bike" to be precise, which my uncle gave me as a present. Shortly afterwards, I joined the Benacense sports club in Riva del Garda and took part in my first race in the beginners' class in 1976. From that day on, cycling was my absolute favourite sport.
However, it didn't take long before I bought my first mountain bike and dedicated myself to this sport too. I like cycling because it gives me a feeling of freedom and allows me to be in the middle of nature and enjoy the wonderful views - which, by the way, still inspire me every time. I train both on a road bike and a mountain bike on my 5 rides a week.
I currently ride a Scott Genius mountain bike and a brand new BMC Teammachine SLR01 road bike with Lightweight Obermayer wheels.
My favourite mountain bike tour is the "Monte di Cavadine" with a partly asphalted ascent, surrounded by very impressive and historic places, and a descent that goes right through the forest. The tour is suitable for all MTB enthusiasts, takes more than 5 hours and has a difference in altitude of approx. 1000 metres.
