HAHNENKAMM
The tour up the Hahnenkamm starts in front of the hotel and requires a good level of fitness, as the path becomes extremely steep several times. The 1,150 metres of altitude gain should not be underestimated. We can warm up our legs well on the Brixental Valley cycle path as far as Kitzbühel. After passing the valley station of the Hahnenkamm cable car, the ascent begins quite steeply, but the path soon levels off a little. In the shade of trees, the gravel path leads us steadily uphill. Shortly after the hermitage, the path becomes steeper again. In the final section of the ascent, we are exposed to the sun and can soon spot the mountain station of the Hahnenkamm cable car. If you wish, you can take a detour to the mountain station but the path continues towards Pengelstein. Passing the Ehrenbachhöhe, we lose a few metres of altitude. From the Hochbrunn mountain inn, the trail climbs once more. At the top, a flat path leads us to the Pengelstein restaurant and the 3S cable car. Here, we begin our first descent towards the Usterkaralm. The first few metres are on rough gravel, requring us to push the bike in places. However, this is followed by a beautiful descent, past the Usterkaralm and the Hiesleggalm, down to the Schirast. Finally, we return to Kirchberg on cycle path no. 204.
